Awards
eDIT The Filmmaker’s Festival is proud to honor outstanding contemporary film makers with awards and to welcome them in Frankfurt.
The awards are presented by the prime minister of the state of Hessen at the festive opening gala.
Festival Honors
Festival Honors – the eDIT Filmmaker’s Festival awards – are presented to filmmakers who have been particularly influential and made outstanding contributions to filmmaking, either creatively or technically.
Editor Chris Lebenzon, A.C.E will receive Festival Honors at the 12th annual eDIT Filmmaker’s Festival, 4-6 October in Frankfurt.
Chris Lebenzon is best known for his work with directors Tim Burton and Tony Scott.
Lebenzon earned Oscar nominations for his work on Scott’s “Crimson Tide” and classic “Top Gun. “ He also edited Scott’s “Days of Thunder,” “Enemy of the State” and most recently “The Taking of Pelham 1, 2, 3.”
With Burton, Lebenzon cut “Sweeney Todd,” which won an ACE Eddie Award; “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory;” “Corpse Bride;” “Big Fish;” “Planet of the Apes;” “Sleepy Hollow;” “Ed Wood” and “Batman Returns.” His upcoming Burton films are “Alice in Wonderland” and “Frankenweenie.”
A special Festival Honors Tribute will be presented to the late Albert Broccoli on the 100th anniversary of his birth in recognition of the James Bond franchises ongoing success and achievements in filmmaking.
Special Achievement Award
With a Special Achievement Award eDIT The Filmmaker’s Festival recognizes influential singular contributions die of a film maker.
Christoph Waltz will receive the Special Achievement Award of eDIT 12. Filmmaker's Festival.
The award honors his outstanding acting as SS-officer Hans Landa in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds. The screen incarnation of this charming yet ruthless Nazi-investigators has been equipped with remarkable complexity by Christoph. He transports a rarely witnessed dimension of evil in a subtle manner. His appearances shape the whole film.
The IMAGO Tribute
The European federation of Cinematographers with the IMAGO Tribute honors outstanding cinematographers fort their influential oeuvre.
In Ricardo Aronovich (Klimt, Missing ) a master of camera directing receives the IMAGO Tribute in 2009. Aronovich shot with acclaimed directors such as Costa-Gavras, Louis Malle or Raoul Ruiz and currently is working on projects with Philippe Garrell and Hugo Santiago.

A Special Achievement Award went to Andy Serkis for his performances as Gollum and Kong.
Cinematographer Giuseppe Rotunno was awarded the first IMAGO Tribute in 2008.
